Summer Essentials: Hydrating Face Spritz

Posted by

These sprays are really great for using as a refreshing cool down when the weather is hot but are also handy to take on planes to prevent your skin becoming dehydrated.  I thought I’d write about the three have this summer, all  of which I like but if I’m being totally honest, my skin can’t tell the difference between!
The first is the Avène Eau Thermale which is basically just water from a spring which is believed to have soothing properties.  I’ve got the little 50ml spray which costs £3.15 from Boots (you can also get 150ml for £6.50).  This size is good as it easily fits in your bag and is also small enough for your hand luggage on a plane.
Second is the Repêchage Algo Mist Hydrating Seaweed Facial Spray.  This is more expensive at £14.50 for 59ml or £24.50 for 177ml (strange volumes?!).  This one claims to hydrate, tone and illuminate as well as cool you down a bit.  It contains sea plants, Ginkgo (an antioxidant) and vitamin C.  It has a slightly odd smell but it’s not unpleasant.  Again, I have the smaller size and I plan to take it with me to Thailand to help my skin cope with the long haul flight.
The final facial spritz I own is the anti-ageing toner Voya Ritzy Spritzy.  I think this one has the nicest packaging and I also love the name!  This spray also contains seaweed combined with various vitamins and minerals.  I prefer the smell of this one; apparently the Ritzy Spritzy’s signature scent is “a highly energising blend of organic essential oils of lavender, vanilla, ginger, green tea, hibiscus, chamonile, calendula and marigold“.  Unfortunately , Ritzy Spritzy comes in 125ml bottles so is too big to take in your hand luggage which is a bit annoying.  This one can be bought online from the Irish website for 26 euros or from some UK stores and spas for £23…..

As I said before, I don’t think I can really tell the difference on my skin but I don’t think I’ll buy the Avène Eau Thermale again, purely because it feels like a waste of money buying water!  I have taken  the Voya Ritzy Spritzy to Kos with me this week and also the Avène Eau Thermal for the flight.  I’ll take the Repêchage to Thailand in August so then hopefully I’ll be able to give you a definitive answer on which I prefer!
