In the realm of skincare, we often lavish attention on our faces, forgetting that our lips need just as much care and affection. Enter Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub – a delightful concoction that promises to transform your lip care routine into a sensory experience. But does it live up to the hype? Let’s dive in and find out.

What is Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub?

Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub is a delectable treat for your lips, crafted by the renowned skincare brand Lush. Like its name suggests, this lip scrub features the comforting scent and flavor of freshly popped popcorn, making it an absolute delight for the senses. But there’s more to it than just its enticing aroma.

Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub was a limited edition product offered by Lush, a popular brand known for its natural and handmade cosmetics. Unfortunately, it is no longer available for purchase as of February 14, 2024. However, I can still tell you about its features and some alternatives you might consider.

The Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub was known for its:

  • Unique exfoliating ingredients: It contained corn meal, castor sugar, and fine sea salt, which helped buff away dead skin cells and leave lips feeling smooth and soft;
  • Moisturizing properties: Coconut oil and jojoba oil in the formula provided hydration and nourishment to lips.

This playful aroma made the lip scrub even more enjoyable to use.

What are Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub Ingredients?

One of the standout features of Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub is its natural and nourishing ingredients. Sugar serves as the primary exfoliant, gently buffing away dead skin cells to reveal softer, smoother lips underneath. Jojoba oil and coconut oil provide hydration, ensuring that your lips stay moisturized long after exfoliation. And let’s not forget the star of the show – popping candy, which adds a fun, fizzy sensation to the scrub.

How to Use Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub?

Using Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub is a breeze. Simply take a small amount on your finger, gently massage it onto your lips in circular motions, and then lick off the excess (yes, it’s edible!). Alternatively, you can wipe it off with a damp cloth. Follow up with your favorite lip balm for an extra dose of moisture.

What are the Benefits of Regular Use?

Regular exfoliation is key to maintaining soft, supple lips, and Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub makes it a truly enjoyable experience. By sloughing away dead skin cells, it helps prevent dryness and flakiness, leaving your lips feeling velvety smooth. Plus, the nourishing oils in the scrub provide a lasting boost of hydration, making it perfect for combating chapped lips, especially during the colder months.

What are Customer Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub Reviews?

But don’t just take our word for it – let’s see what other users have to say about Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub:

  • “I’m obsessed with this lip scrub! It smells amazing and leaves my lips feeling incredibly soft.”;
  • “I love that it’s edible – it’s like a tasty treat for my lips!”;
  • “I’ve struggled with dry, chapped lips for years, but this scrub has been a game-changer. Highly recommend!”

Final Thoughts

What about Health Benefits of Yogurt Starter Holland and Barrett?

Highlighting the nutritional advantages, the narrator points out that yogurt made with the Easiyo Yogurt Maker contains no artificial colors or preservatives. Furthermore, its freshly made nature ensures higher absorbable calcium content compared to store-bought alternatives. The presence of live cultures further enhances its health benefits.

I love a good family get-together. We live on the other side of the country to most of my family so it’s hard to get everyone together unless we travel all the way down there. Now that Dylan is here, it’s not quite as easy to jump on a plane as frequently as we used to. Which is where Windermere Marina Village comes in. Pretty much half way between us, it’s a holiday village set on the banks of Lake Windermere with a selection of houses and apartments to suit all family set ups.

There were quite a lot of us so we ended up renting two properties. My sisters, step brother and partners were in a sleeps 6 cottage for a long weekend. As it’s still a fair drive from Aberdeen, we decided to stay for a full week to give us a more relaxing break. My mum and step dad were also able to stay for the full week so we rented a gorgeous 2 bed apartment for us lot.

Our apartment had a great open plan kitchen/dinning/living room with a terrace and view over the marina. Next to the open plan living room was a big bedroom with bathroom that could be accessed from the hallway or the bedroom. Upstairs in the attic was an even bigger bedroom with en-suite. This room had skylights so missed out on the lovely view but had a space that was just right for a travel cot so this was the room we took. There was also a small utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer which was well used during our stay!

The layout of the apartment was perfect for us as we could put Dylan down to sleep upstairs in the evenings and not disturb him. Even when the whole group got together after his bedtime, he managed to stay asleep. The apartment was big enough that we all had our own space and didn’t feel like we were living on top of each other. The whole place was spotless and the kitchen was well stocked with all the equipment you might need to whip up dinner for the family.

Windermere Marina Village is a 10 minute walk from Bowness-on-Windermere along a lakeside footpath. We walked into the town most days but didn’t venture any further afield. Bowness has lots of cute shops, cafes and restaurants and a huge number of ice cream shops. Dylan sampled his first ice cream because you’re not really on holiday until you have an ice cream are you? He loved it! You can also hire boats, take a lake cruise or visit The World of Beatrix Potter in Bowness. We were after a relaxing holiday and didn’t really want to be rushing round too much between Dylan’s naps so didn’t actually do any of these, but if we go back when Dylan is older these would be brilliant family days out.

We were blessed with some amazing sunshine during our stay at the Marina so spent our time having picnics, eating ice cream and watching the world go by. The Boathouse Bar & Restaurant was right next door to our apartment block. We ate there twice and the food is so good! Dylan enjoyed his spaghetti and we enjoyed plates of sharing starters and fantastic mains. The atmosphere in The Boathouse is so relaxed and very child friendly with a terrace perfect for hot sunny days.

Dylan had a wonderful week being doted on by his aunties and grandparents and we were able to spend some quality time as an extended family. Hopefully we can make a big family holiday an annual thing as it’s so good to be able to see everyone all together.

Babymoon in Lake Garda https://helenasblog.co.uk/babymoon-in-lake-garda/ Fri, 22 Jun 2018 13:08:00 +0000 https://helenasblog.co.uk/?p=46 We recently returned from a wonderful week in Lake Garda. It was our babymoon – our last holiday as just the 2 of us!

We recently returned from a wonderful week in Lake Garda. It was our babymoon – our last holiday as just the 2 of us!  I was 27 weeks pregnant, so just on the limit of being allowed to fly without a doctors note. We chose Lake Garda because of the relatively short flight and the not too hot late May climate. We’d been to Lake Como a couple of years ago at the same time of year so knew more or less what to expect.

The Hotel

Our hotel – Hotel Corte Valier – was less than half an hour from Verona airport, in Lazise near the south of the Lake, which was ideal. We booked the holiday as a package deal from Citalia so had a private transfer from the airport which was great as we didn’t have to stress about finding a taxi or public transport to get us to the hotel.

The hotel itself is set in beautiful grounds and the rooms are bright, modern and spacious. There is a big outdoor pool and also an amazing indoor spa. Unfortunately, I couldn’t really use the saunas and steam rooms being pregnant but I did poke my nose in and wished I could have spent longer! We had a partial lake view room which was on the ground floor looking onto the pool with the lake behind it.

The Dome Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. We were on a bed and breakfast package so only had dinner there once. The food was great – they accommodated my pregnancy diet requirements happily – and the waiters were very attentive. In fact, the entire staff at the hotel couldn’t have been more helpful.

But let’s talk about breakfast. It was the best hotel buffet breakfast I’ve ever had! We sat outside every morning by the pool, looking out over the lake and helped ourselves to freshly baked pastries, fresh fruit, freshly prepared omelettes and pancakes and freshly squeezed orange juice. There was also cereal, yogurts, cakes and an array of cooked and cold meats and cheeses. After I had placed my coffee order on the first morning, the waiters remembered it for the rest of the week and a decaf cappuccino appeared on our table within a few minutes of us sitting down. We were very impressed and it was hard to resist not having a bit of everything each morning! The highlight for me was the pistachio cream filled croissant – definitely the best croissant I have ever sampled!

Days Out

Most of our week was spent relaxing by the pool and wandering into Lazise along the lakeside path. Lazise is less than 10 minutes from the hotel and had more than enough restaurants to choose from. It’s a picturesque little town, surrounded by the old castle walls, with it’s own ferry stop so that you can travel around the lake.

We actually only ended up getting the ferry once when we visited Sirmione. It was a bit of a nightmare to be honest as the boat we had planned to get was full meaning we had to wait for an hour and then get a different boat which required a change rather than being direct. It took us a lot longer than planned to get there!

Sirmione is a bigger town than Lazise and is known for the Scaligero Fortress – the sunken castle – and the Grottoes of Catullus, the remains of an impressive villa dating back to between the end of the 1st century B.C. and the beginning of the 1st century A.D. It’s another beautiful town but we felt like we couldn’t really enjoy it as there were just so many people! I dread to think how busy it gets during the summer, as we were there before the high season had properly started.

Another trip we did was to the town of Bardolino. It’s just 4km North of Lazise and you can walk the entire way there along the lakeside path. We did the walk one evening so that it was slightly cooler and got a pizza before walking back to the hotel. The views of the lake and mountains you get from the path are stunning and there were also lots of very cute ducklings, goslings and even signets along the way!

Anniversary

Our trip overlapped with our first anniversary – this year really has flown by! We did some research in the days before and choose to go to Da Oreste for our anniversary meal. The food, atmosphere and staff were perfect and we had the best evening.

Travelling While Pregnant

We were a little nervous about travelling with me being pregnant, especially after the complications in my last pregnancy. We’ve had a few scares this pregnancy but luckily nothing in the run up to the holiday. I saw my GP a few days before travelling and she gave me a fit to fly letter, just in case I was asked on the plane. Before we left, Citalia found out for us where the nearest hospital was, just in case we had any issues. It was reassuring knowing that there was somewhere close by if needed.

I spent a while looking for travel insurance as I wanted to be 100% sure that we’d be covered if anything happened. Most normal travel insurance policies seem to cover you for travel in pregnancy up to 28 weeks, some higher. However, I went for one specifically designed for pregnancy. It gave higher levels of medical cover and had specific wording relating to pregnancy and baby which gave me extra peace of mind. It was more expensive than using a standard travel insurance policy but I think it made us both feel more comfortable that we would be covered if the worst were to happen. We paid about £25 for the week so it wasn’t too much.

The journey out to Lake Garda was relatively painless – I made sure I had lots of snacks and water for the plane and also wore my most comfy clothes. The trip back was a little more uncomfortable! I’d managed to avoid swollen ankles so far in my pregnancy but our last day in Italy was much hotter than the rest of the trip and our flight wasn’t until the evening. I noticed around lunchtime that my ankles had started to swell so we tried to keep cool for the rest of the day. That didn’t seem to help my ankles which just kept growing! By the time we landed at Edinburgh, my feet, ankles and legs were blown up and very uncomfortable. I’d also developed a sinus infection during the week so had a pretty painful take-off and landing!

Aside from the journey home, we enjoyed our babymoon so much. It was a great way to spend some quality time together before everything changes in August!

A few weeks ago we booked a mini-break to Loch Tay. We’d been given one of those experience vouchers for Christmas where you can choose from hundreds of activities so we decided to book a two course meal at The Killin Hotel. We booked two nights in the hotel as well to make a weekend of it. The drive along the loch to the village of Killin was stunning and the hotel itself looked fairly impressive when we pulled up.

After dropping off our bags in a slightly disappointing room, we went out to explore. Dochart Falls is just a ten minute walk from the hotel and we found a lovely local called The Corrie Inn to watch Scotland beat England at the rugby! After a delicious meal at The Corrie Inn, we went back to our hotel where unfortunately we had a pretty awful night.

Disaster at The Killin Hotel

The room was apparently not at all sound proof and we could hear TVs and snoring from the rooms around us. There was also a function downstairs so loud music until 2am. I’ve been sleeping really badly since I got pregnant so it was all very stressful! When we got into bed, I noticed that the sheet didn’t actually fit on the bed (not sure how that happens as it was a standard size double) so we could see the mattress underneath the pillows which made me a bit paranoid about germs. Mik had to clear cobwebs off the ceiling above the bed before we tried to sleep so, of course, I then worried about spiders all night. To top it off, I’ve been suffering from pregnancy rhinitis and the room was so dusty I was really struggling to breathe. Needless to say, we checked out early the next morning and managed to find a last minute cottage at The Kenmore Club on the other side of the loch.

A Lucky Find – The Kenmore Club

We arrived at The Kenmore Club before 9.30am but the staff were really friendly and let us leave the car in the car park even though we were obviously much too early to check in. The Kenmore Club is right on the edge of the loch with the most beautiful views. We spent the morning walking part way round the loch and making a small detour up the hill to the Falls of Acharn. After a bit of lunch back at The Kenmore Club, we drove to Aberfeldy, forgetting that it was Sunday so basically everything was closed! However, we still had a nice walk around, peering through the shop windows!

Back in Kenmore, we visited the oldest inn in Scotland for a hot chocolate before we checking into our cottage. We really lucked out finding The Kenmore Club. We had a double room, a twin room and a big open plan kitchen and living room. And best of all, it was spotless and so, so peaceful! There’s a swimming pool on site with a sauna and steam room, a cafe/restaurant, putting green, childrens playground and more. It looks like the perfect place to stay once the baby comes along so we will almost definitely be visiting again!

That evening, we drove back to the Killin Hotel for our meal. The restaurant itself is worlds apart from the rest of the hotel! It’s obviously been recently renovated and is modern and cosy with great food. It’s in the conservatory and although it was dark when we were there, I imagine the views during lunch are beautiful. I’d recommend popping into the hotel for food if you’re in the area but I wouldn’t suggest staying overnight. It’s such a shame that the rooms aren’t really up to scratch as it’s got the potential to be a lovely hotel. Luckily the night spent in The Killin Hotel didn’t spoil our entire weekend and we managed to find the perfect child friendly getaway for the near future!

Last month we spent my birthday weekend at the Macdonald Houston House near Edinburgh. The main building is an impressive 16th century Tower House and the hotel is equipped with a spa, a 2 AA rosette restaurant and a very cosy bar. Although slightly dated, our room was massive, spotlessly clean, with an extremely comfy bed. I was also pleased to find that the room was snug and warm as I really feel the cold, so am a little wary of old buildings!

After checking in, we had a quick explore of the hotel and gardens before I headed off to the spa for a facial. I really do love a facial and as I don’t have them often it was a real treat. The waiting room was lovely and relaxing with scented candles and bubbly spa music and the facial itself was amazing. My therapist was lovely and put me at ease – I am usually a little nervous at the start of a facial as it is a bit weird having someone prodding your face! Within ten minutes I was more relaxed than I had been for months and I think I even drifted off for a while!

With my skin all preened and feeling very soft, we headed to the bar for our dinner. The bar is in a snug room with the thickest walls you’ve ever seen and a roaring log fire to keep it toasty. We both ordered a burger and a glass of wine and continued relaxing. The food was fantastic and just what we needed after the drive down to Edinburgh and the strenuous (!) facial!

Next morning, after the excitement of opening birthday presents was over, we had a hearty breakfast in the restaurant before catching the train into Edinburgh. The train station was just a fifteen minute walk away with regular, direct trains into the city. All day we were looking forward to that evenings dinner! We hadn’t remembered to book the Jeremy Wares restaurant in the hotel in advance so we ended up having to eat incredibly early, I think around quarter to 6, as that was the only slot available when we checked in! There was no way we were going to miss the chance of eating in the 2 AA rosette restaurant – we would have taken any time slot they gave us! The meal was totally worth hurrying back from town. The service was impeccable and food was delicious. Everything was cooked to perfection and we really enjoyed the whole experience.

We’d definitely love to visit the hotel again. It was such a relaxing weekend and we both managed to completely switch off which was nice as we had been so busy for what felt like months beforehand!
