Summer Essentials: Body Scrubs

Body scrubs are essential for smooth summer skin. Here are a couple I’ve been using recently, one which is an everyday sort of price and another more expensive.

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Body Scrub costs just £4.99 for 200g. It smells very chocolatey in the tub but a little synthetic once you start lathering it. It has a nice creamy texture and contains cocoa butter, shea butter and vitamin E to moisturise while exfoliating. The smell doesn’t linger on your skin for long so is good if you want to use a scented body lotion or perfume.

Pure Lochside Organic Sugar Body Scrub is more expensive at £23 for 200g. It smells totally amazing and feels much more luxurious. Even the tub, made of thick glass, feels expensive. This scrub contains macadamia, sweet almond, organic essential oils and virgin coconut oils with no parabens or other nasty chemicals. I really love this scrub as it leaves my skin feeling moisturised and also lightly scented. As it’s a sugar scrub, it doesn’t leave little gritty bits behind which are a pain to clean!

Has anyone used either of these? If you have any other scrubs which you’d recommend then let me know in the comments!

Palmers Dark Chocolate & Peppermint Lip Butter

This Palmer’s Dark Chocolate & Peppermint Lip Butter smells amazing.  If you like chocolate then this is definitely the lip balm for you!  It smells chocolaty but not too sweet and minty but not too strong!  I would say that it is more of a lip balm than a butter as the formula is much runnier than I would expect from a butter.  It tingles a bit when you apply it which makes it seem as though it is doing something – it really does keep my lips hydrated and it has got a nice sheen to it.  This is one of the best lip balms I’ve used in a while and at just £2.75 I will be repurchasing once I’ve run out…. which might be quite soon as the gorgeous smell means I apply it a bit too often…..

Has anyone else tried this? What did you think?

Palmer’s Olive Butter Formula

Palmer’s are best known for their Cocoa Butter Formula but they have now brought out a new Olive Butter Formula and I’ve been trying out body lotion over the past couple of days.  It is brilliant!  It’s made with olive oil so I was a bit worried that it wouldn’t smell very good but I can tell you now that it doesn’t in any way smell like olive oil.  The body lotion works really well as an everyday moisturiser as it is not overly greasy but still manages to keep even elbows nice and soft.  You don’t need to use too much as the lotion is quite thick so I think the price of £3.59 for 250ml is really good.  As well as moisturising, the body lotion is supposed to fight the signs of aging and skin tone.  I don’t think I can really comment on this though until I’m older!

There are other products in the Olive Butter Formula range including a body butter and a more intensive concentrated cream.  I would definitely look at buying the body lotion or some of the other products in the future.  You can buy them from Boots or ChemistDirect.
