NOTW: Silver Crackle

This week I’m wearing a 17 crackle polish which I really like. A few weeks ago I tried the black 17 crackle with gold glitter but didn’t really get on with it.  This one is much better and the crackles worked really well!  I’m wearing it over an elf polish called teal and I think the combination looks really good.

NOTW: Crackle

Last week I bought two crackle polishes from 17 as part of the three for two offer in Boots.  I don’t own any other crackle polishes so this is the first time I’ve ever used it and I managed to make a bit of a mess.  The one I’m wearing this week (over Miners Plum) doesn’t have a name but is a black crackle with gold glitter.  I’m not sure if all crackle polishes are the same but this one seems quite thick and gloopy and I don’t think I ended up applying the right amount to get good crackles!  On some nails it didn’t seem to crackle very well at all!  I love the shine this polish has in the light from the glitter but my nails don’t look great up close – I think I’ll get better at applying crackle polish with practice though!  I took these photos on the second day of wearing the polish and there was already some tip wear which was a little disappointing.

What do you think of the colour?  Is there a special way to use crackle polish that I’m missing?!

NOTW: Leopard Print

I realise that I’m pretty late to the leopard print bandwagon but here’s my attempt just the same!  I’m not entirely sure I like the colour combination but I’m quite impressed that I managed to get the spots looking as neat as they do, although next time I’d like to get the spots a little smaller.  My left hand isn’t as neat as the right (I’m left handed!) but I think with practice I’ll get better……

If you’re interested, the colour I’ve used are Nail Inc Warwick Avenue for the base with Miners Plum and No7 Stay Perfect Stand Back for the spots.

It seems like recently I’ve mainly been posting NOTWs so I’ll do my best to find the time to get some more interesting posts written up – who’d have thought I’d have so much work to do in my final year!!!!

NOTW: Ethereal

Recently I’ve only been wearing bright coloured nail varnish so I thought I’d go for something a bit more simple this time.  I’m wearing a Rimmel 60 Seconds polish called Ethereal.  It’s a subtle pink shimmer which has peach tones in some lights.  I’m only wearing one coat here but I really like it!

NOTW: Magical Blue Aura

This week I’m wearing one of my oldest nail polishes which I bought all the way back in 2004 when I was on holiday in Florida. I haven’t worn it in a long time and am quite surprised that it still hasn’t gone gloopy! It’s a blue holo called Blue Aura and is part of the Sally Hansen Magical collection – it’s been discontinued but I have seen it on eBay.

I really love this colour and the way that it sparkles in the light but it can be a bit of a pain to apply. It tends to drag and can look a bit patchy if you don’t apply enough. It also chips a lot more easily than most other nail polishes I own – but it’s so lovely and sparkly I don’t really care!

NOTW: Leanne’s Tip Design

I saw this nail design by Leanne over at Do Not Refreeze, one of my favourite nail blogs, and just had to try it!  Mine don’t look half as good as Leanne’s but I’m still quite pleased with them.  I don’t have any nail art pens so just used a black marker pen….. It would seem that marker pen on top of nail varnish doesn’t dry ever so I ended up smudging the lines – and I really hope I can get it off!  I also think this design would have worked better if my nails were longer but I really hate having my nails much longer than they are here so that’s never going to happen!  Anyway, if you want to try this design then have a look at Leanne’s tutorial here.

NOTW: Milan

I’ve got loads of coursework to do this week so just went for simple nails which only took 5 minutes!  I’m wearing Milan from the No7 Stay Perfect range which is one of my favourite ever nail polishes – it is a lovely colour with just the right amount of sparkle.  I’m only wearing one coat here and it’s already completely opaque.  This polish is a really easy consistency to apply and it dries quickly too.  Has anyone else got Milan?

NOTW: Butterflies

For my nails this week I have used a Miners polish called Plum with some Body Collection stickers.  They were really quick and easy to do.  What do you think?

NOTW: Purple Dream

This will be the last glittery Nails of the Week for a while, I promise!  Here I have used Purple Dream from elf and topped it with some silver and blue glitter.
