No7 Stand Back
Maybelline Street Artist “Alley Attitude” Top Coat (I love the effect of this!)
I have stuck to the same mascara for quite a while now, No7 Extreme Length. I love it, but last time I was in Boots I decided to mix it up and try a new mascara. After some deliberation, I settled on the Bourjois Queen Attitude which promises volume and length.
I have some other Bourjois products which I really like so wanted to try out their mascara but the main reason I chose this one was because the shape of the packaging was pretty unique… Maybe not the best way to decide on a mascara…. Anyway, the short story is that I don’t like this mascara. I find that it makes my eyelashes look really spidery. The formula is difficult to work with and if you try to build it up with a second coat, it clumps your eyelashes together. I think it might be something to do with the shape of the brush which doesn’t have may bristles compared with others I have used. After trying to get on with Queen Attitude for a few weeks, I actually popped back to Boots to pick up my usual mascara. I really want to find some new mascara which works for me – what is your favourite mascara?
A few weeks ago Boots had a deal where you could get a free set of No7 goodies if you bought two No7 products. I needed new mascara so bought two to get my freebies. One of the free gifts was the No7 Moisture Drench lipstick in Mulberry. I only own one other lipstick and it happens to be from the same range. I wasn’t sure I would be able to pull off a lipstick that looks so red but it actually looks ok as it’s not too bright. The colour is more sheer than it looks in the tube but you can build it up easily enough to a deep colour if that’s what you prefer. I love that this lipstick feels almost like a lip balm and doesn’t dry my lips out at all. It’s nice to be able to mix up my makeup a little with brighter than normal lips!
You may know that my favourite ever mascara is the No7 Extreme Length but the Avon Supershock mascara which had was given at Christmas comes a really close second. (Sorry for the slightly fuzzy photo, I took this before I went out one night so didn’t have very good lighting and forgot to take another one in daylight before the tube ran out!) The formula is almost identical to the Extreme Length – even though it is supposed to be volumising as opposed to lengthening. It stays put all day without flaking or smudging under the eye. The only thing that bothers me slightly is the brush. It is a similar style to the Extreme Length brush so is really good at separating out lashes but it is quite a bit bigger making it harder to use. The Supershock mascara is cheaper though and Avon sometimes have some really good deals so I will be looking out for this mascara in the future!
This gradient worked so much better than the one I tried last week! I much prefer the colours and I managed to get the gradient a lot smoother. This time I actually used three colours: No7 Stand Back as the base with Rimmel Green With Envy and No7 Dollar to make the gradient. What do you think?I’m now off to try and decide how to do my nails for my friends wedding tomorrow (she’s been planning the big day for over a year now and it’s really exciting that it’s finally here!). I had ordered Nubar 2010 to wear for the wedding but it hasn’t arrived in time which is really annoying! If you have any suggestions please let me know – I’ll be wearing a navy bridesmaids dress with nude heels.
I bought the Extreme Length mascara after finishing my No7 Intense Volume mascara. I liked the Intense Volume but thought I’d try something different as a change. I think I prefer the Extreme Length as it seems to give my lashes the same amount of volume as the Intense Volume but it also makes them a bit longer and I find it easier to apply. I prefer the brush on the Extreme Length which makes it easier to apply the mascara without it clumping. I would definitely but this mascara again and I think it is really good value, especially if you have one of the No7 vouchers that Boots seem to give out all of the time! Have you used any No7 mascaras? Which is your favourite?
I’ve never really been into wearing colour on my lips and usually just wear one of my excessively many lip balms. I decided that seeing as I now have my degree (yay!) it was about time that I bought some more “grown up” makeup so I popped into Boots to try and find my first lipstick. In the end I decided to go for a No7 Moisture Drench lipstick in the shade Pink Lemonade which is a really subtle pink shimmer.
The main reason I’ve been put off lipstick in the past (aside from the fact that I don’t think I could pull off a bright colour!) is that I had it in my head that lipstick would leave my lips really dry. So far I’ve not had that problem with the Moisture Drench – it is actually really almost the same as wearing a lip balm.
The Moisture Drench lipsticks cost £10 each but there always seems to be some sort of offer on No7 products! I really like this lipstick and it’s made me much less scared of trying new colours!
I can’t believe it’s been nearly a week since my last post – I can’t wait to have my exams over with! I’ve got a bit behind with my Nails of the Week posts…. I actually wore this a few weeks ago now and was in a rush when I painted my nails so excuse the messiness! The blue is No7 Stand Back which is a bright matte blue but I topped it with a coat of a really, really old Nails Inc polish I have to give it a bit of shimmer.
When I painted my nails last week I was just experimenting really but I quite liked the end result so decided to keep it for a few days. I used four colours; a yellow from 17, Stand Back from the Stay Perfect No7 range and Purple Dream and Dark Purple Glitter from elf.
Which is your favourite design?
