NOTW: Showgirl

My first NOTW since getting back from Thailand and I had to cut my nails really short after biting them to death on the flight home – I’m quite a nervous flier!!!  I’m wearing yet another Ciaté polish, this one is called Showgirl.  Out of all of the Ciaté polishes I’ve tried over the past few weeks, this is my least favourite.  I do like the colour but I wish the glitter was more obvious.  The real life colour looks nothing like the picture on the website which is a bit annoying.  The consistency of this one seemed to make it harder to apply although that might just have been because I hadn’t put any nail varnish on for the three weeks I was away….  The colour didn’t seem to want to go right up to the edges of my nails so looked as though it was wearing at the tips even though I’d literally just applied it – you can see this in the photos which were taken literally a few hours after I’d applied it!

What do you think of the colour?

NOTW: Sand Dune

Can you believe that this is the very first gold nail polish I’ve ever owned?!  Sand Dune from Ciaté is the perfect gold colour, not too yellow and with plenty of shimmer.  I love it!

NOTW: Halo

Here is the second Paint Pot from my Ciaté collection – Halo. I was a little disappointed when I applied the colour as in real life it looks as though it would be a pearly white with flecks of pink but it is actually really sheer.  I had to use four coats to build up to colour as in these photos and it’s almost identical to Models Own Indian Ocean (but Indian Ocean is slightly more blue).  I do really like the colour but will only be using it as a top coat in the future I think.  Do you like it?

NOTW: Oil Slick

A few weeks ago I got a load of new paint pots from CiatéOil Slick is the first one I’ve tried and I really like it.  The consistency is lovely, making it easy to apply and I only needed two coat to get full opacity.
I love the way it changes between gold and green in different lights!  I also used the Ciaté top and base coats and the combination meant that my didn’t chip for a good six days – the top and base coats are a million times better than the cheap Asda one I’ve been using lately!
The Ciaté bottle is super cute, especially with the little bow on the front and I was also amazed at how easy this colour was to remove.
I’m definitely looking forward to trying out the rest of the colours I’ve got!  What Ciaté colours would you recommend?

NOTW: Glitter Crackle Attempt 2

A couple of weeks ago I broke out my glitter crackle polish that had been sitting in my nail varnish box since my first disastrous attempt at using it.  I’m pleased to say that my second go at using it worked out much better and I managed to get some quite impressive crackle patterns.  I couldn’t decide what colour to use as the base so I went with two – Purple Dream by elf, one of my absolute favourite polishes, and Mellow Yellow by 17 which is the most perfect and flattering summer yellow.

I liked the effect over both colours and will definitely be using this crackle a bit more often now I’ve figured out how it works!  The only downside is that it’s a right pain to remove!  I’ve recently tried my first natural nail polish remover, Eden, and it didn’t come close to being able to remove this polish.  To be honest, it even struggles to remove pale colours when you’ve got a top and base coat on.  I really wanted to love the natural remover as I feel as though I should use natural products as much as possible so I have been disappointed by Eden.  Has anyone else tried natural nail varnish removers?

ps…. Sorry for the maths backgrounds, I took these in the middle of revision!

NOTW: Arabian Glow

I bought this nail polish years ago from Avon so it is discontinued now (but you can still buy it from ebay – the shade is Teal Waters).  I remember being disappointed by the colour as it didn’t look the same as in the catalogue but it’s still a nice colour.  My nails have been a bit stained from all the dark polishes I’ve been wearing lately so I decided to try and look after my nails a bit and go with a lighter colour.  Do you like it?

NOTW: Patterns

When I painted my nails last week I was just experimenting really but I quite liked the end result so decided to keep it for a few days.  I used four colours; a yellow from 17, Stand Back from the Stay Perfect No7 range and Purple Dream and Dark Purple Glitter from elf.

Which is your favourite design?

NOTW: Silver Crackle

This week I’m wearing a 17 crackle polish which I really like. A few weeks ago I tried the black 17 crackle with gold glitter but didn’t really get on with it.  This one is much better and the crackles worked really well!  I’m wearing it over an elf polish called teal and I think the combination looks really good.

NOTW: Summer Glitter Tips

I think this is one of my favourite designs I’ve worn, it’s so bright and summery!

I used my new yellow 17 polish for the base with Nubar Vogue Vert, Elf Purple Dream and Body Collection Crystal Suede in Midnight Blue on the tips.  I topped the tips with Nubar Hologram Glitter.  Do you like it?

17 Lasting Fix Nail Polish

I know I promised some posts other than nail posts but here’s another one!  This is another polish I got in Boots last week.  I’ve been looking for a nice yellow for a while now and have finally found one….

It’s on the gold side of yellow with a bit of shimmer and actually goes with my skin tone unlike other brighter yellow polishes I’ve tried.  The formula is good and it’s easy to apply but you definitely need at least two coats or it looks a bit patchy.  I really love how summery this colour is!  What do you think?
