NOTW: Arabian Glow

I bought this nail polish years ago from Avon so it is discontinued now (but you can still buy it from ebay – the shade is Teal Waters).  I remember being disappointed by the colour as it didn’t look the same as in the catalogue but it’s still a nice colour.  My nails have been a bit stained from all the dark polishes I’ve been wearing lately so I decided to try and look after my nails a bit and go with a lighter colour.  Do you like it?

NOTW: Patterns

When I painted my nails last week I was just experimenting really but I quite liked the end result so decided to keep it for a few days.  I used four colours; a yellow from 17, Stand Back from the Stay Perfect No7 range and Purple Dream and Dark Purple Glitter from elf.

Which is your favourite design?

NOTW: Silver Crackle

This week I’m wearing a 17 crackle polish which I really like. A few weeks ago I tried the black 17 crackle with gold glitter but didn’t really get on with it.  This one is much better and the crackles worked really well!  I’m wearing it over an elf polish called teal and I think the combination looks really good.

NOTW: Summer Glitter Tips

I think this is one of my favourite designs I’ve worn, it’s so bright and summery!

I used my new yellow 17 polish for the base with Nubar Vogue Vert, Elf Purple Dream and Body Collection Crystal Suede in Midnight Blue on the tips.  I topped the tips with Nubar Hologram Glitter.  Do you like it?

17 Lasting Fix Nail Polish

I know I promised some posts other than nail posts but here’s another one!  This is another polish I got in Boots last week.  I’ve been looking for a nice yellow for a while now and have finally found one….

It’s on the gold side of yellow with a bit of shimmer and actually goes with my skin tone unlike other brighter yellow polishes I’ve tried.  The formula is good and it’s easy to apply but you definitely need at least two coats or it looks a bit patchy.  I really love how summery this colour is!  What do you think?

NOTW: Crackle

Last week I bought two crackle polishes from 17 as part of the three for two offer in Boots.  I don’t own any other crackle polishes so this is the first time I’ve ever used it and I managed to make a bit of a mess.  The one I’m wearing this week (over Miners Plum) doesn’t have a name but is a black crackle with gold glitter.  I’m not sure if all crackle polishes are the same but this one seems quite thick and gloopy and I don’t think I ended up applying the right amount to get good crackles!  On some nails it didn’t seem to crackle very well at all!  I love the shine this polish has in the light from the glitter but my nails don’t look great up close – I think I’ll get better at applying crackle polish with practice though!  I took these photos on the second day of wearing the polish and there was already some tip wear which was a little disappointing.

What do you think of the colour?  Is there a special way to use crackle polish that I’m missing?!

NOTW: Ethereal

Recently I’ve only been wearing bright coloured nail varnish so I thought I’d go for something a bit more simple this time.  I’m wearing a Rimmel 60 Seconds polish called Ethereal.  It’s a subtle pink shimmer which has peach tones in some lights.  I’m only wearing one coat here but I really like it!

NOTW: Hologram Glitter Overload!

This week I decided to try the Nubar Hologram Glitter over some different colours to see which looks the best.

The colours I’ve used on my left hand are…..

Little finger: Nubar Vogue Vert

Ring finger: Elf Purple Dream

Middle finger: Body Collection Crystal Suede Midnight Blue

Index finger: Body Collection 2959

Thumb: No7 Stay Perfect Dollar

….. and on my right hand…..

Little finger: No7 Stay Perfect Milan

Ring finger: No7 Stay Perfect Stand Back

Middle finger: Miners Plum

Index finger: Rimmel 819 Green With Envy

Thumb: Elf Dark Purple Glitter

I really can’t choose which combination I prefer, I keep changing my mind!  I think the glitter looks good over all of the colours but different ones look better in different lights.  What do you think?  Have you got a favourite combination?

NOTW: Vogue Vert

This week I’m wearing my second new polish from Nubar.  This one is called Vogue Vert and is sort of a faded green colour.  It’s really different from any other colour I have and I really like it.  In real life, it’s actually a bit less minty – have a look at the photos on this blog.  I would say that the real life colour is half way between my photos and  these ones!

The only downside for me is that it looks very patchy after one coat (I often try and get away with just one coat!).  You need at least two coats for the colour to be opaque – on some of my nails I had to use three coats.  This is my first Nubar colour, all the others I’ve tried have been top coats.  Has anyone else tried any Nubar polishes and have you found them patchy?!

NOTW: Milan

I’ve got loads of coursework to do this week so just went for simple nails which only took 5 minutes!  I’m wearing Milan from the No7 Stay Perfect range which is one of my favourite ever nail polishes – it is a lovely colour with just the right amount of sparkle.  I’m only wearing one coat here and it’s already completely opaque.  This polish is a really easy consistency to apply and it dries quickly too.  Has anyone else got Milan?
