Grace Cole Fruity Lip Balms

These gorgeous Grace Cole lip balms are the best ones I have used in a long time. The formula reminds me of Vaseline so they are really quick and easy to apply and are lovely and moisturising. But the best thing about them is the smell. Especially the coconut and lime – I can’t get enough of it! You can buy the Grace Cole Lip Balms online for just £2 per 12g pot. Well worth it I think and there are lots of other delicious smelling products in the range as well!

Lanolips Lip Ointment

LanolipsJust before Christmas I wrote about the Lanolips 101 Ointment which is the best lip balm I have ever used in my whole entire life.  Lanolips have a range of lip balms perfect for summer which have a hint of colour as well as SPF 15.  They are available in 5 shades: Apples, Rose, Dark Honey, Sunshine and Rhubarb.  I have Apples which is quite a scary looking bright red.  It actually applies a much more pinky red on your lips which I think suits me better than bright red would!  You can build up the colour to make it more obvious if you want as well.  LanolipsI love that it feels just like a lip balm and doesn’t dry my lips out at all.  It also lasts longer than I thought it would – I think I’ve managed to keep it in place for a whole morning before the colour fades.  You can buy the Lanolips Lip Ointments here for £7.99 – I’d totally recommend adding these to your summer makeup collections!

Winter Essentials

Hand cream: I think hand cream is an all year round essential but I find that I especially need to use it during the winter.  Neutrogena have some really intense but affordable hand creams which are perfect for protecting your hands against the cold.  The Nourishing Hand Cream (£4.09 for 75ml) is light enough for everyday use and the classic hand cream (£3.85 for 50ml) gives extra moisture.

Body Lotion: I am always looking for good body lotions.  I like to use the Body Shop body butters – I had the Coco Butter for Christmas which is gorgeous – but they are quite expensive.  I tend to swap between using my fancy moisturisers and more everyday ones.  I think the Vaseline range are great and are really affordable at £4.49 for 400ml from Boots.  I’ve also used the Aveeno Skin Relief Shea Butter (£5.49 for 200ml at Boots) a few times as well.  This winter though my favourite has to be the Dove Winter Care Cream (£3.29 for 150ml) which smells amazing and makes my skin feel really soft.  They also have a body lotion version which costs £3.99 for 250ml.

Lip balm: This winter my favourite lip balm has been the Lanolips 101 Ointment which costs £11.22 for 17.5g.  It’s so good at repairing chapped lips.  The Qsilica Paw Paw Rescue Ointment is a similar but is cheaper at £8.95 for 25ml.

Hair care: My hair gets really, really dry in cold weather if I don’t use a good leave in conditioner.  Over the years I’ve tried so many different leave in conditioners but the best by far is the Advanced Techniques Quick Touch Leave In Conditioner from Avon.  It is really light so doesn’t weigh down your hair or make it look greasy and it is really cheap!  I use it almost every day to control my frizz and stop my hair drying out.  Another brilliant product which I’ve only found in the last few months is the Carino Miracle Oil from Aldi.  It contains argan oil which is very moisturising and it good for keeping hair looking healthy.  It is also much cheaper than proper argan oil!

What are your winter essentials?  I would love to know!

Lanolips 101 Ointment

One of my birthday presents from my mum was the Lanolips 101 Ointment.  I’ve had the Lanolips hand cream before which was lovely so I was excited to try out this new Lanolips product.  It’s multi purpose so can be used for chapped lips, dry cuticles, dry, itchy skin etc.  I’ve only used it on my lips so far and I love it!  The first time I used it my lips were a little chapped but this balm cleared them up in just hours.  Now I use it to prevent my lips chapping in the cold weather.  It is quite a thick balm and stays put on your lips for hours.  I’d definitely recommend this, it’s a brilliant winter product!

Yes to Carrots Lip Balm

Recently I’ve been restocking my lip balm collection after realising I had just one left.  I don’t know about you but I’m a bit obsessed with lip balms and usually have lots of them hanging around the house so was a bit shocked to realise I was down to one!  I got this Yes to Carrots lip balm in a travel set over the summer and had completely forgotten about it.  It’s a lovely lip balm with a gorgeous minty flavour.  It doesn’t have much of a shine so you can wear it underneath a lip gloss or lip stick to keep your lips nice and soft.  Anyone else tried this lip balm?

Summer Essentials: Blistex Lip Balms

I’m going to Thailand for three weeks in August so thought I would put together a Summer Essentials series to help me to decide what to take and also to hopefully give you some ideas as well!

The first thing I always pack for a holiday is lip balm.  I’m totally addicted to lip balms and have tried so many different ones.  Last year I tried the Blistex Raspberry Lemonade Blast and I’ve decided that my new tube will definitely be coming with me.  It tastes amazing, is really hydrating and best of all has SPF 15.  I always have a few lip balms on the go at any one time so I’m also going to be taking the Blistex MedPlus Cherry Berry which is SPF 15 as well.  I’m not usually a fan of cherry flavoured things but I really like this one as it’s not the fake cherry smell you usually get.  These lip balms add a bit of shine to your lips but not so much that you can’t use them underneath a lipstick or lip gloss for extra moisture.

Have you tried any of the Blistex range recently?  What did you think?

Living Nature Manuka Honey Lip Balm

Living Nature is a brand I’ve bought a few things from over the past couple of years.  Their products are all completely natural and so far everything I’ve tried has worked really well, although some of their range has a slightly odd smell!  This lip balm is absolutely brilliant.  It is really moisturising and has a slight sheen to it which makes it nice to wear.  The smell is nothing to write home about so at the moment I’ve got to admit that I keep reaching for the Palmer’s Dark Chocolate and Peppermint lip butter (which I reviewed here) over the Living Nature balm.  However, I’ve still been using this Living Nature lip balm a couple of times a day as I think it is better at hydrating my lips, even if it doesn’t smell anywhere near as good!

Christmas at L’Occitane

I love L’Occitane – everyone does right?  I love going into the shop and wandering round trying out the different products and deciding what to buy.  The products tend to be at the higher end of my budget but they are such good quality I can justify buying them occasionally!

L’Occitane have loads of great Christmas presents for both men and women.   At around £8, these new lips balms are cheaper than other products from L‘Occitane but are more than I’d usually spend on lip balm.  They are really moisturising and smell amazing so I think they are worth it, especially at Christmas!

There are also lots of gifts sets like this one…..

….. which are more expensive – this is £46, reduced from £63.40.

This £22 eyeshadow palette looks lovely and would make a nice gift.

Not forgetting the men, there are lots of different shaving products, shower gels and manly smelling eau de toilettes.

Like I said earlier – something for everyone!  Visit the website to find more products.

Blistex Raspberry Lemonade Blast

Raspberry Lemonade Blast is the new lip balm from Blistex.  It’s one of the best smelling lip balms I’ve ever used – it’s so fruity and summery!  As well as being really moisturising, it contains spf 15 so is perfect for the summer!
