Lanolips Rose Balm Intense

I think I have a bit of a hand cream problem – I’ve got way too many!  I seem to have them dotted around the house as well as one in each of my bags but I do use them all so I feel it’s justified!  Lots of them absorb at different rates and they all smell different so I’ve got one for every occasion, whether I’m in a rush and need it to sink in quickly or I need some intense moisture for winter hands.

Anyway, the latest addition to my collection is the Lanolips Rose Balm Intense which contains more than 95% natural ingredients, including lanolin which is a natural substance coming from shorn sheep’s wool.  The balm has a light, delicate scent and actually sinks in surprisingly quickly seeing as it is ‘intense’.  It just leaves my hands feeling slightly tacky for a few minutes after applying rather than leaving them greasy which is nice.  It is really great at moisturising and I also like using it to keep my nails and cuticles in good condition.

You can buy Lanolips Rose Balm Intense from Boots – £9.18 for 50ml (plus it’s on the 3 for 2 offer at the moment!).

Gwdihw

This month I’ve been using a couple of products from Gwdihw sold by MyPure.  Gwdihw is based in Anglesey and their products are made using locally grown herbs.

The first product I tried is a cuticle balm called Nail Wizard.  It comes in a small metal tin (25g) with a cute design on the front.  The balm has a fresh lemony smell and is really good for moisturising your hands and keeping your cuticles soft and looked after.  The balm costs £4.49 and it’s definitely worth it as you only need a small amount to moisturise all ten fingers!

I’m not so keen on the second product I tried.  I chose the Muscle Soother to try and stop my muscles aching (obviously!) after pilates and I thought Nick might want to use it sometimes after his mammoth swimming sessions.  I love the packaging and the bright blue colour but that’s about all that I do love.  I really can’t stand the smell which is a mixture of menthol, witch hazel and some sort of herb.  I’ve never used a muscle soother before so maybe it’s just me but I expected it to maybe warm up when applied but it does the opposite and is really, really cold!  I haven’t noticed any difference in how achy my muscles are after using it either.  The Muscle Soother costs £10.95 from MyPure.

Like everything else sold by MyPure, the ingredients are natural so no sulphates, parabens etc.  Even though I didn’t get on with the Muscle Soother I’ll definitely try some other products by Gwdihw.

Cath Kidston Rose Hand Salve

I can’t believe I haven’t written about this Cath Kidston Rose Hand Salve yet!  I had my first tub from my mum two Christmases ago and I absolutely love it.  The packaging it lovely – it feels and looks a bit more special than a normal tube of hand cream.  The hand salve smells gorgeous, it is thick and luxurious and best of all it works really, really brilliantly!

I tend to use it before I go to bed as being so thick it can take a while to sink in.  It stops me getting dry hands in winter (especially if I use it before my walk to uni and leave it to sink in underneath my gloves!) and is really good for looking after cuticles.  Even though I have had it for so long and use it at least every other night, it still hasn’t run out!  It’s also free from sulphates and parabens which is a bonus.

Last week, my mum gave me a new tub for my birthday so that I have one to leave at her house for when I go home during the holidays.  The new tub is slightly smaller and the packaging isn’t quite as nice but it is still the same amazing hand cream!

Definitely worth picking one up next time you’re in a Cath Kidston shop – or even making a special trip!  (It would make a great Christmas present for almost anyone as well!) Thanks Mum :-)

Living Nature Nourishing Hand Cream

This hand cream from Living Nature is brilliant.  Living Nature is a company from New Zealand who don’t use any harsh chemicals or synthetic materials in their products.  The hand cream has a lovely smell which isn’t too strong – the smell has been formulated alongside a French master perfumer and is inspired by flowers found in New Zealand, especially the Kowhai flower.  It contains active manuka honey which is made in New Zealand and is used to rejuvenate and protect skin.

The hand cream is really moisturising, is quickly absorbed and not too greasy.  Even though it’s really good when you’re hands are very chapped, it is still fine for using on days when you just want to keep your hands feeling soft!  You can buy the Living Nature Nourishing Hand Cream in little 50ml bottles (RRP £10) which are perfect for keeping in your bag but can also get 200ml for £25 which works out more economical.

A’kin Lavender, Geranium & Jojoba Hand, Nail & Cuticle Creme

The first MyPure product I am reviewing this month is the A’kin Lavender, Geranium & Jojoba Hand, Nail & Cuticle Creme.  This is my 3rd A’kin product and it is just as good as the previous two!

I really like the packaging – it is a bit old fashioned but looks quite expensive and different.  It tells you everything you need to know, for example that it is for all skin types, it is paraben and sulphate free and it contains vitamins and shea butter.  You can see from the photo that the lid is at the bottom of the tube so it will always be easy to get the hand cream out without having to squeeze the tube forever when it gets emptier!

I’m always using hand cream and this is becoming one of my favourites.  It smells natural and fresh and is a nice consistency so that it absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave your hands feeling greasy.  Although it absorbs quickly, it isn’t that fast that you don’t have time to properly massage it into your hands and cuticles – it just isn’t a hand cream that takes 10 minutes to sink in!  It is quite thick so you don’t need to use much to moisturise your hands and it keeps them feeling soft for hours.

The A’kin hand cream costs £7.99 and I would say that it is totally worth it!

Spa Products by Champneys

A while ago I wrote about my new hand cream from Champneys.  Since then I have tried out a few other Champneys products and they have all been just as good, if not better!  I used their mud mask which was brilliant and kept my face really soft for days.  Their moisturisers also make my skin soft but are not too greasy.  Everything smells very luxurious and makes you feel like you are at a spa for the day rather than in your boring old bathroom and the fancy packaging is nice to look at!  I can’t wait to have a lovely relaxing bath with Champneys Aromatic Bath Essence followed by a Reviving Foot Soak after my long day of lectures today.

They do products for men, not just women.  My boyfriend has been using Champneys Daily Cleansing Face Wash and loves it!

Champneys Hand Cream

I have found the most amazing hand cream – Champneys Vitamiracle rejuvenating hand and nail cream.  It smells delicious and absorbs quickly without leaving your hands all greasy.  My hands always feel soft for the rest of the day after using it!  The packaging looks really luxurious and like a real spa treatment.  I love using it!
