NOTW: Polka Dots

I loved how colourful and sparkly these nails were.  I wore them a few weeks ago when the weather was horrible, grey and cold and these made it feel much more summery!  The glitter coat is Nubar Hologram Glitter which always looks amazing over any colour.

NOTW: Glitter Gradient

I really love this design!  I used Ciaté Angel Wings as the base and then Nails Inc Nail Jewellery to create the gradient.  I wish I’d managed to take photos in daylight as these photos could have looked so much better!

NOTW: Christmas Sparkles

To be honest, the only thing remotely Christmassy about this nail design is the glitter!  I started off with a layer of Rimmel Green With Envy and then sponged some Ciaté Angel Wings over it.  I was going for an icy effect but was a bit heavy handed with the Angel Wings so it didn’t look great.  I decided to add some purple glitter and I really liked the end result.  What do you reckon?

NOTW: Wedding Nails

Here’s how I wore my nails at my friends wedding last weekend.  I had ordered Nubar 2010 from Amazon but unfortunately it didn’t arrive on time (took them a week to tell me that it was damaged in the post and they didn’t have a replacement to send – so annoying!) so I had to make an emergency purchase on Friday afternoon.  After much deliberation I went with Nails Inc Royal Arcade Nail Jewellery and paired it with my Ciaté Sand Dune.I really love the combination and can’t wait to try the Nail Jewellery over some other colours. Some bonus points- it drys really quickly and is really good at staying chip free! It is however a bit of a pain to remove but totally worth it!  Do you like it?

If you haven’t done so already, why not pop over and enter my competition to win one of two £25 vouchers for the quirky handmade jewellery from HannahMakesThings.com?

NOTW: Showgirl

My first NOTW since getting back from Thailand and I had to cut my nails really short after biting them to death on the flight home – I’m quite a nervous flier!!!  I’m wearing yet another Ciaté polish, this one is called Showgirl.  Out of all of the Ciaté polishes I’ve tried over the past few weeks, this is my least favourite.  I do like the colour but I wish the glitter was more obvious.  The real life colour looks nothing like the picture on the website which is a bit annoying.  The consistency of this one seemed to make it harder to apply although that might just have been because I hadn’t put any nail varnish on for the three weeks I was away….  The colour didn’t seem to want to go right up to the edges of my nails so looked as though it was wearing at the tips even though I’d literally just applied it – you can see this in the photos which were taken literally a few hours after I’d applied it!

What do you think of the colour?

NOTW: Crackle

Last week I bought two crackle polishes from 17 as part of the three for two offer in Boots.  I don’t own any other crackle polishes so this is the first time I’ve ever used it and I managed to make a bit of a mess.  The one I’m wearing this week (over Miners Plum) doesn’t have a name but is a black crackle with gold glitter.  I’m not sure if all crackle polishes are the same but this one seems quite thick and gloopy and I don’t think I ended up applying the right amount to get good crackles!  On some nails it didn’t seem to crackle very well at all!  I love the shine this polish has in the light from the glitter but my nails don’t look great up close – I think I’ll get better at applying crackle polish with practice though!  I took these photos on the second day of wearing the polish and there was already some tip wear which was a little disappointing.

What do you think of the colour?  Is there a special way to use crackle polish that I’m missing?!

NOTW: Purple Dream

This will be the last glittery Nails of the Week for a while, I promise!  Here I have used Purple Dream from elf and topped it with some silver and blue glitter.

NOTW: Christmas Glitter

I’m pretty sure I’ve already done a Nails of the Week post this week but never mind – it’s Christmas!  I used a Rimmel 60 Seconds nail polish for the base (819 Green With Envy) which normally looks turquoise but adding the gold glitter has made it look much more green.  It looks different colours in different lights so here are a few photos for you……

I’m not going to have time to post now until after Christmas so I hope you all have a lovely few Christmassy days!
