I very rarely stray from neutral eyeshadows but this e.l.f. Little Black Beauty Book Palette looked so pretty and was not expensive at all so I thought I would give it a go.
So far, I have only really used the pink shadows over my entire eyelid as they are pretty subtle. The other colours I have only been brave enough to use along my lash line to give a pop of colour. I have quite small eyelids so I don’t find that dark/bright colours over my entire eyelid really work for me. I have also found with the pink colours that they tend to crease after a few hours wear. It’s not all that noticeable with the pale colours but I imagine would look a lot worse with the brighter colours! I have been enjoying experimenting with this palette and think the bright colours are great for summer. You can buy it online for £8.
Just a quick post this morning as I am off to spend the weekend at Loch Ness which was my birthday present from Nick!
Here I am wearing elf Dark Purple Glitter which is not anywhere near as glittery as you might think seeing as it has “glitter” in it’s name. To actually make this polish glitter, I have topped it with Nubar Hologram Glitter which is one of my all time favourite polishes! I love it!
A couple of weeks ago I broke out my glitter crackle polish that had been sitting in my nail varnish box since my first disastrous attempt at using it. I’m pleased to say that my second go at using it worked out much better and I managed to get some quite impressive crackle patterns. I couldn’t decide what colour to use as the base so I went with two – Purple Dream by elf, one of my absolute favourite polishes, and Mellow Yellow by 17 which is the most perfect and flattering summer yellow.
I liked the effect over both colours and will definitely be using this crackle a bit more often now I’ve figured out how it works! The only downside is that it’s a right pain to remove! I’ve recently tried my first natural nail polish remover, Eden, and it didn’t come close to being able to remove this polish. To be honest, it even struggles to remove pale colours when you’ve got a top and base coat on. I really wanted to love the natural remover as I feel as though I should use natural products as much as possible so I have been disappointed by Eden. Has anyone else tried natural nail varnish removers?
ps…. Sorry for the maths backgrounds, I took these in the middle of revision!
When I painted my nails last week I was just experimenting really but I quite liked the end result so decided to keep it for a few days. I used four colours; a yellow from 17, Stand Back from the Stay Perfect No7 range and Purple Dream and Dark Purple Glitter from elf.
Which is your favourite design?
This week I’m wearing a 17 crackle polish which I really like. A few weeks ago I tried the black 17 crackle with gold glitter but didn’t really get on with it. This one is much better and the crackles worked really well! I’m wearing it over an elf polish called teal and I think the combination looks really good.
I think this is one of my favourite designs I’ve worn, it’s so bright and summery!
I used my new yellow 17 polish for the base with Nubar Vogue Vert, Elf Purple Dream and Body Collection Crystal Suede in Midnight Blue on the tips. I topped the tips with Nubar Hologram Glitter. Do you like it?
This will be the last glittery Nails of the Week for a while, I promise! Here I have used Purple Dream from elf and topped it with some silver and blue glitter.

Here’s another of the new shades from e.l.f……
I really like this colour although it wasn’t what I was expecting after seeing the nail polish online. The photo to the left is straight from the e.l.f website and you can see that in real life, the colour of the nail varnish is much warmer. I actually prefer the real colour to the online image!
Like other e.l.f nail polishes I’ve tried, this one is really hard wearing and easy to apply. e.l.f is fast becoming one of my favourite places to find good nail varnishes and I’m amazed by how cheap they are!
My new nail varnish by elf (eyes lips face) is brilliant. I’ve got the lilac colour and it looks lovely on. It is very easy to apply and dries quickly even though it isn’t one of the 60 second ones. I used two coats without a base or top coat and my nails stayed perfect for 3 days which is quite a long time for me as I always manage to chip my nail varnish after I’ve just put it on! The elf nail varnishes only cost £1.50 but are just as good as my £10 Nails Inc varnishes so I’m certainly going to be buying more from the range.
