Alva After Shave Balm

A few weeks ago I got the Alva Naturkosmetik After Shave Balm from MyPure for Nick and here’s what he thought…..

The balm works really well.  It soothes my skin after shaving and helps prevent dry skin.  The smell is ok – not amazing but not bad either.  The only downside to the balm is that it’s very runny so I always end up squeezing too much out of the tube which is a bit of a waste!  I do like the After Shave Balm but I’m not sure it’s worth the £12.60 for 75ml as I don’t think it’s any better than some of the cheaper brands I’ve used.

The balm is free from parabens, SLS, phthalates and all of the other nasty chemicals which is, I think, what makes it more expensive so if you have sensitive skin then it’s worth a try!

Alva Naturkosmetik Hornhaut Balsam

Time for my second MyPure review of the month.

I’ve been trying out the Alva Naturkosmetik Hornhaut Balsam to try and get my feet ready for summer.  The balm claims to……

“gently reduce calloused skin on the feet, hands, elbows, and knees. Dry, cracked areas of skin will become softer and quickly diminish, with the white willow helping to quell any discomfort associated with cracked skin.”

The balm is quite runny so after applying it, it’s best to wear some socks for half hour or so to let it sink it.

The balm seems to work pretty well and has left my feet and elbows feeling smoother.  The only negative to the balm is the smell.  I can’t work out what it is but it’s a bit medicinal.

You can buy this foot balm from MyPure for £12.30.

Alva COLEUR Eyeshadow

Time for my first MyPure review of the month – Alva COLEUR Makeup Duo Eyeshadow.  I chose the Autumn Forest shade and am really pleased with it.  The colour is much stronger than I would have expected after trying other natural eyeshadows, it also stayed put all day and barely creased.  It is soft and very easy to apply but isn’t so soft that if falls all over your cheeks!

This eyeshadow costs £12.25 and like all of the products sold by MyPure it contains no parabens, sulphates or phthalates.  There are 6 different colour sets to choose from; fushsia, smoke, silver, gold, light blue, autumn forest.

I still haven’t got the hang of taking photos of my own face and really don’t understand how other bloggers manage to get such clear close ups (maybe my camera just isn’t very good)?!  Any hints would be very welcome :-)

Alva Crystal Roll-On Deodorant

My latest product from MyPure is the Alva Crystal Roll-On Deodorant.  I’ve been plucking up the courage to try a crystal deodorant for a while now but I’ve got to admit that I did chicken out of trying the actual Crystal Rock Deodorant.  I can’t see how using a rock as a deodorant can really work?

Anyway, the Crystal Roll-On seems to work amazingly well.  It is unscented and doesn’t leave any white marks.  I think I prefer this deodorant to my normal Dove one as it works so well and doesn’t contain any aluminium.  The deodorant it much more expensive than your average Dove or Sure deodorant at £7.00 so I’m not sure if it’s really worth it, especially after reading this article on how aluminium deodorants aren’t really that bad for you.

I think it would be more worthwhile to buy the Crystal Rock Deodorant which costs £8.50 but lasts for around a year.  I think I’ll have to give this one a go to see whether it really does work!

Alva Naturkosmetik Milk and Honey Body Lotion

This month with MyPure I was able to choose which products I tested.  I decided to go for a brand which I’d never used before so I chose the Milk and Honey Body Lotion by Alva Naturkosmetik.

Alva is a German brand and their products are made in Osnabrück which is in northern Germany.  Like all of the other brands sold by MyPure, their products contain no sulphates, parabens or phthalates.  The Alva brand is split up into a few different sections with the Naturkosmetik part including essential skin care items such as deodorant, shower gel and body lotion.  Other sections of the brand are more specialised, for example Alva Rhassoul has been created for people with oily skin and acne.

So, back to the Milk and Honey Body Lotion…..  The packaging is nothing special but is nice enough and I like the fact that the lid is on the bottom as it is easy to get out.  The body lotion has quite a sweet smell (although you’d probably guessed that, what with the honey!) which I really like.  The body lotion itself is quite thin and runny but not so runny that it gets everywhere when you try to apply it.  I have been finding that it takes quite a while to rub in but once it’s done, it leaves my skin soft so I don’t really mind!  The only downside to this body lotion is that it doesn’t say what sort of skin type it is supposed to be used on so I would guess that it can be used by everyone, otherwise it should say.  It’s been really good for my skin which is normal/dry so I would buy this body lotion again.
