A’kin Rose de Mai Face Cream

I love my new A’kin face cream, the Rose de Mai Anti-Oxidant Day Cream.  As you would expect from the name, it has the lovely scent of roses and like all A’kin products it’s free from parabens and sulphates.

The moisturiser has a nice creamy texture but is absorbed quickly into my skin and doesn’t leave any stickiness.  This A’kin face cream has been review load of times so click here to read more if you are in any doubt about trying it.  As far as I can see there are no bad reviews and, after using it myself, I can definitely see why!

A’kin Lavender Cellular Brightening Mist

So far I’ve loved every single A’kin product I’ve tried but to be honest, I’m not blown away by the Lavender Cellular Brightening Mist.  Yes it smells lovely and yes it’s refreshing to spray on your face, especially on a hot day, but I have seen no difference in my skin since I started using it.  It is supposed to make skin feel ‘soft and smooth, whilst looking brighter, skin tone more even and fine lines & wrinkles appear diminished’.

Maybe it just doesn’t suit my skin type, I’m not sure?  Anyway, I personally wouldn’t spend £14.99 on this product as I think there are loads of better things in the A’kin range.

A’kin PureMAN Face Wash and Scrub

Hi everyone, Helena’s boyfriend Nick here reviewing a MAN product. The product in question is the A’kin PureMAN Face Wash and Scrub. Having used the product for about 2 weeks (every three days) I’ve found it extremely refreshing in the morning, possibly thanks to the flavourings (not sure that’s the right word for a face wash) of orange, giseng and spices (can’t be more specific) and it has improved my skin.

I have previously used other products from the range and the results are always positive for my skin. You know, modern world, modern man needs a face wash (apparently). But men, if you are willing to accept the modern regime of male personal grooming, invest in something from the PureMAN range.

A’kin Avocado & Calendula Conditioner

This month I’ve been using the A’kin Avocado & Calendula conditioner for dry and long hair from MyPure. Although it is really good, I’m not as impressed with it as I have been with other A’kin products. It smells lovely and does work well but I don’t think it works any better than other, cheaper conditioners I’ve used. The only thing that I do prefer about this conditioner is that it is 100% natural with no parabens, sulphates etc.

At £10.49 it is too expensive to become my normal conditioner and although I’d like to only use chemical free products, I don’t think I can really afford it while I’m at uni! If you do only use natural products then this conditioner is worth trying out as it seems to be the same sort of price as lots of other natural conditioners.

A’kin PureMAN Face Wash

I’ve bought my boyfriend face washes a few times but the A’kin PureMAN Face Wash from MyPure is the first one he’s actually used for more than a few days and also the only one which he has liked using.

His skin has been looking really good since he started using it and it also feels softer.  The face wash foams up quite well so a little goes a long way and it smells lovely.  The smell of orange, ginseng and spice is quite Christmassy!

I’ve liked all of the A’kin products I’ve tried myself and think I’ve converted Nick who wants to try more of the men’s range!  The face wash is pricey compared to others you can buy but is the only one Nick has tried which has made a difference.  It is also free from all of the nasty chemicals like parabens, sulphates etc.

A’kin Rose & Geranium Cleanser

This month I’ve been using the A’kin Rose & Geranium Cleanser & Toner In One from MyPure.

As you know, I have absolutely loved all of the A’kin products I’ve tried in the past and this one is no different.  The cleanser smells amazing and is nice and gentle on my skin.  As well as being a toner, another bonus is that it removes eye makeup.  It has quite a thick consistency but you don’t need to use a huge amount for your whole face.

As with all of the products sold by MyPure, there are no sulphates, parabens or other nasty chemicals so is perfect for sensitive skin.

A’kin Vitamin Hair Masque

The A’kin Ginkgo & Jojoba Intensive Moisture Hair Masque is a fantastic product.  It is a nice, thick conditioning mask which can be used in a number of different ways….left in for 5 minutes, for half an hour or even overnight if you need to.  I left it on overnight as my hair is so dry and frizzy and it worked miracles!  I only used a small amount and it made my hair look shiny and a lot less frizzy.  It smells really good but I don’t know what it smells of, Ginko and Jojoba I guess?  I’ve just Googled ginko and apparently they are trees from China, Japan and Korea used in medicine to improve blood circulation and memory.  I’m not entirely sure why it is used in this conditioner but I don’t really mind as it is just so good!  If you have dry or uncontrollable hair then this conditioner is definitely worth a try.

A’kin Lavender & Geranium Body Moist

I LOVE THIS A’KIN MOISTURISER! In fact, I’ve loved every A’kin product I’ve ever tried!  The A’kin Lavender & Geranium Body Moist smells really good and quite different to other moisturisers.  It is pretty thick and a little goes a long way so the bottle should last for quite a long time.  It also works very well and leaves my skin perfectly moisturised and not at all greasy.  After using it for a few days running I’ve really noticed that my skin is getting much softer.  It is a lot better than the Alva Body Lotion from MyPure that I tried a few months ago.

This moisturiser costs £11.99 and I would definitely pay that as it really is one of the best moisturisers I’ve ever used.  Also, MyPure have a deal on at the moment where you get a free Lavender Hand Cream when you buy the moisturiser.  Remember as well that A’kin only use natural ingredients so their products are brilliant for your skin with no nasty chemicals!

A’kin Instant Radiance Facial Masque

My second MyPure review of the month is on the A’kin Instant Radiance Face Mask.

The first time I tried the mask I’ve got to admit, did have a bit of a panic.  I followed the instructions and kept the mask on for 10 minutes before rinsing it off and applying some moisturiser.  My skin seemed to be slightly red but I didn’t think anything of it as that’s happened before when I’ve used face masks.  About half an hour later, as I was about to go to bed, I looked in the mirror and saw that my face had got much redder and you could clearly see where the mask had been on my face.  I was a bit worried but it wasn’t hurting or itching which I took to be a good sign, and just hoped that it would go away and wasn’t an allergic reaction.  Thankfully when I woke up the next morning, my skin wasn’t in the least bit red and it felt much softer, smoother and cleaner.

The next time I tried the mask the exact same thing happened.  The box says the mask might cause ‘a light tingling sensation on the skin.  If symptoms persist or if this becomes uncomfortable remove with warm water and discontinue use.’  As I’ve not experienced any tingling, I’m guessing that the redness doesn’t really matter.  If anything, it may prove that the mask is actually doing something.  Anyway, I love this face mask as it makes my skin feel amazing so will keep on using it once a week.  At £16.99 it is quite expensive (at least for a student) but it’s still cheaper than lots of other similar products and A’kin is a fantastic brand so you should definitely try it out at least once!

A’kin Lavender & Anthyllis Leave-In Conditioner

I really love the A’kin range so this month I chose to try their Lavender & Anthyllis Leave-In Conditioner.  It is for people with normal, dry or textured hair.  I have quite dry hair so always use a leave-in conditioner to try and get rid of the frizz.  I’ve found that lots of leave-in conditioners either do nothing or leave my hair feeling crunchy and looking like I’ve got loads of product on.  This one by A’kin however works really well.  It makes my curls defined and leaves my hair feeling soft but also as though it has nothing on, if that makes sense!  It also smells wonderful.  The conditioner itself is quite thick which means I don’t need to use that much even though my hair is quite long so the bottle should last quite a while.  As with other A’kin products, the conditioner contains no sulphates, parabens, petrochemicals or other nasty things.  I love this product and would spend £7.49 on it – although at the moment MyPure is doing an offer where you get the leave-in conditioner free when you buy two other A’kin products.
