Moonfish Cafe is one of my favourite restaurants in Aberdeen. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Union Street, the little restaurant has a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious food. The restaurant opened in 2004 and head chef Brian McLeish was a finalist in Masterchef: The Professionals 2014. I’m not going to lie, I have been a little bit star-stuck on the couple of occasions I have seen him walking through the restaurant!
Moonfish is well known for fish dishes but also has meat and vegetarian options. The menu is small and changes regularly – usually you find around 4 starters, 4 mains and 4 desserts to choose from. I like the limited choice as I am very indecisive so this makes the whole decision-making process much easier for me! You can get two courses at Moonfish for £31.95 and three courses for £36.95. If you’re feeling extra hungry, you also have the option to include a cheese board at the end of your meal. As well as the wonderful food, Moonfish have an extensive gin list, perfect for a pre-dinner cocktail!
While it is more expensive than a chain, the quality of food at Moonfish is absolutely fantastic and you are always well taken care of by the staff. Make sure to book in advance though as it can be tricky to get a table at short notice, especially on the weekends!
