Kallo Rice Cakes

A few weeks ago I was sent a couple of packs of Kallo rice cakes to try. One pack was caramel and the other blueberry and vanilla. I wasn’t really sure when I would eat these as they aren’t really all that easy to take into work for lunch without them falling apart but I’ve found the perfect time to munch on them! I recently signed up to run 10k with work (which I am seriously regretting – I hate running!) and these are a great snack between getting home from work and going for a practice run. They are really tasty and the blueberry ones are a pretty purple colour! The rice cakes cost £1.79 per pack and you can find them in Tesco.

Bio Oil

My sister Megan has been trying out Bio Oil and here is what she thinks of it….

The red pigments on the tops of my arms have always made me self conscious, especially when wearing t-shirts or bikinis which are pretty basic necessities for the summer. After using countless creams and tablets all claiming that they’ll “work wonders” and “clear everything up” and evidently doing absolutely nothing at all, I officially gave up. With summer fast approaching and a fun-filled holiday with friends getting nearer by the day, I finally found the wonder that is “Bio-Oil”. Weary of it at first (call me a cynic), I was tempted to just forget about it and go on with my day. But what the hell, I thought, may as well. Bio-Oil is a specialist skin care for all types of skin problems including stretch marks, uneven skin tones, ageing skin, scars and dehydrated skin and with the special ingredient of PurCellin Oil (I don’t know what it is either) it smoothes skin and makes it soft and refreshed. I have been using this product for well over two weeks now and have already noticed a difference. It must be applied twice a day which is easy enough when waking up and before going to sleep – quick and simple and perfect for people on the go. The red pigments on my skin are gradually going down and I am feeling more confident about showing my arms during my summer holiday – on the note of summer holidays, BioOil does have a particularly sun-creamy type smell, constantly making me think of going on sunning it up on a beach…not so good whilst I’m in the thick of exams! Sceptical at first due to being let down by so many other products, I am extremely glad that I gave this a try and am definitely going to go and buy myself another bottle!

NOTW: Cling Film Manicure

This was my first try at a cling film manicure. I used the tutorial by Leanne at Do Not Refreeze which was really easy to follow and it was so quick to do. I like the effect but think next time I will use more contrasting colours to make the marbling look more obvious.

One of my favourite body lotions this winter was the Dove Winter Care body lotion so I was happy to see that they have brought out a new one for the summer – Beauty Blossom body lotion. It smells really lovely, kind of fruity but flowery at the same time. It absorbs really quickly into your skin and is a great moisturiser. And the best bit is that it’s just £3.99 for 250ml! Parrot Print Dress

A few weeks ago I came across a fabulous website called Not On The High Street. They have so many lovely things from clothes and shoes to home and garden stuff. I could so easily spend hundreds buying things for my new flat! I’ve just moved into my first unfurnished flat so most of my stuff comes from Ikea – I would love to get a few of the bits from this website to make it a little more unique. In the end, after hours of browsing, I couldn’t resist the cute Parrot Print Dress by Instant Vintage. I’m always a bit nervous ordering clothes online as I often end up having to send things back because they don’t fit right. Fortunately this dress fits me perfectly and I love it! I will definitely be back on this website to pick up some little extras for my flat!

ps… sorry for the rubbish photo in the mirror – I live on my own and don’t own a fancy camera with a timer/tripod so this is the best I could do!

Nurture Bi-Phase Eye Make-up Remover

My latest make-up remover is the Bi-Phase Eye Make-Up Remover from Nurture. It is definitely one of the best make-up removers I have ever tried as it is so gentle and dissolves my eye make-up so quickly. It hardly takes any rubbing to get rid of everything from around my eyes! You need to shake the bottle before you use it to mix up the two phases of the remover. One phase is an oil based cleanser and the other is to soothe and moisturise. As it is quite oily, I have found that it can leave my skin feeling a little greasy if I use too much but if I leave it to sink in it actually works well as a moisturiser. The Bi-Phase Make-Up Remover costs £6.95 for 150ml and is 100% worth it!

No7 Moisture Drench Mulberry

A few weeks ago Boots had a deal where you could get a free set of No7 goodies if you bought two No7 products. I needed new mascara so bought two to get my freebies. One of the free gifts was the No7 Moisture Drench lipstick in Mulberry. I only own one other lipstick and it happens to be from the same range. I wasn’t sure I would be able to pull off a lipstick that looks so red but it actually looks ok as it’s not too bright. The colour is more sheer than it looks in the tube but you can build it up easily enough to a deep colour if that’s what you prefer. I love that this lipstick feels almost like a lip balm and doesn’t dry my lips out at all. It’s nice to be able to mix up my makeup a little with brighter than normal lips!

I managed to make a bit of a mess with these – I stamped the pattern on before the colour underneath was completely dry so it got a bit smudged. I still quite liked them though, even if they weren’t perfect!
