The Country Candle Company

The Country Candle Company are based in Wiltshire, England where they create beautifully scented and packaged candles. I have two of their candles from the Celebrations collection. The Country Candle Company The Country Candle CompanyThe Tonka Bean and Vanilla one is my favourite – it also has hints of cinnamon and clove so is a gorgeous Christmas candle without being overly Christmassy, if you know what I mean! The Black Pomegrannate scent is also lovely – it is fruity and reminds me of summer. I think the packaging is really cute and am suprised at how good these candles are as they are so reasonably priced – just £5.99 for a candle that burns for around 20 hours. The Country Candle Company have lots of collections on their website, all well priced and with pretty packaging – I have a long list of ones I want to try next!

Remote Control Candles

Remote control candles might sound  a little strange  to you but I think these are brilliant!  They look surprisingly realistic and unless you are looking right down on them you wouldn’t know there was no real flame.  You can switch them on and off at the base but need to use the remote for the various settings.  There are a few different settings to make them brighter or more flickery but to be honest I don’t actually use the remote control all that often.  If you think you might forget to switch the candles off you can set a timer so that they switch off automatically which is good as you don’t end up draining your batteries.  The one thing I’m not too sure about is how long the batteries are going to last – hopefully they don’t drain too quickly as you need two batteries per candle and I don’t know about you but I never have any batteries in the house!

The best thing about these candles is that there is no way you could accidentally start a fire if you fall asleep or forget to blow out the candles!  You can buy a pack of three candles here from Paramount Zone for just £12.99.  I didn’t want to mention Christmas this early but Paramount Zone also have some great gifts…..

Zing Organics Nude Collection

You might remember my review a few weeks ago of a candle from Zing Organics?  Well here’s another one!  This is the clove, patchouli and vanilla scented candle from the Nude Collection and it’s just perfect for winter.  It’s not too Christmassy that you have to wait until December to use it but it does remind you that Christmas is on its way!  I’ve always loved vanilla scented candles and this is no exception.  I also love that you can see the little beads of vanilla used to make it.  Like all of the candles from Zing Organics, it is free from artificial colourings, preservatives and fragrances and it doesn’t give off lots of soot like cheaper candles.  I like that all of the candles in the range are cream coloured as it means that you don’t end up choosing a scent which is the best colour to suit your living room!  You can actually just pick your favourite one.  This size candle, 180ml, from the Nude Collection costs £30 but there are other sizes available.

Munio Candela Soy Wax Candle

I’ve had a Munio Candela candle from MyPure before and I really loved it so thought I’d get another one.  I went for the candle poured in a brown jar in the scent “Inspiration”.  There was nothing on the website to tell me what “Inspiration” would smell like so it was really just a random choice!  I like the little linen bag the candle comes in which makes it a bit different from other candles but unfortunately that’s the only thing I like.  The brown jar is quite ugly really and I seriously can’t stand the scent.  I couldn’t even try to describe the smell – it’s like nothing I’ve ever smelt before!  It’s a shame about the scent as I could have got over the ugly jar if I liked the smell.  This candle has put me off buying any more Munio Candela candles from MyPure as £14 is a lot to spend on a candle if you are not sure you will like the smell.  I think it would be a really good idea for MyPure to describe the scents so that you can get a better idea of what candle you will like!

Zing Organics

Zing Organics is run by a lovely lady called Kirsty who makes eco and organic candles which are entirely natural and dye free with completely recyclable packaging.  I was thrilled to be sent two candles to review, one scented with cinnamon bark and white pine and the other with neroli and lime.  So far I’ve actually only lit the cinnamon and white pine one but it smells so amazing that I’ve ended up lighting it every day since moving into my new flat!  A scented candle is the perfect way to relax after a day at work.  The scent is delicate but after it’s been lit for half hour or so you can smell it throughout our whole flat (to be fair the flat is quite small but still!).  I love that the candle doesn’t give off that soot you get from cheap Ikea candles. I love the personal touch of the handwritten labels on the packaging and am really impressed with the high quality of the candle itself.  You can buy Kirsty’s candles online (and I definitely think you should try them!) and remember to watch out for my review of the neroli and lime scented candle coming soon!

Blend Collective Unwinding Candle

I think this might just be one of the nicest smelling candles I’ve ever owned!  It is from the Unwinding range by Blend Collective and is a mixture of sandalwood, frankincense, cedarwood and neroli.

The scent is quite strong which is good as I like to be able to actually smell my scented candles.  The candle has an estimated burn time of 30 hours, is made from 100% pure essential oils and no petroleum, paraffin wax or synthetic fragrances.  The candle costs £25 and is available online.  It is quite expensive but is definitely worth it for a little bit of luxury!

Munio Candela Relaxation

When I noticed that MyPure sold candles I just had to try one.  The Munio Candela candles are soy fragranced with 100% essential oils.  I went for the Relaxation candle which is poured in a paint pot.  Soy candles are don’t produce the soot that normal candles give off so are much better for you and they also burn for 50% longer.

When I ordered the candle, I was expecting it to have maybe a lavender scent but when it arrived, to be honest, I was slightly put off by the smell (don’t ask me what it smells of – I can’t work it out!).  I was also surprised by the wick which is oddly shaped and made from wood.

Even though I wasn’t overly keen on the smell, I wasn’t about to waste £23 worth of candle, so I lit it anyway.  I seriously can’t work out what it smells like but it seems to smell entirely different once it’s lit!  I really love this candle and I think it’s worth spending a bit more on soy candles.  This one looks really unique as well and should burn for around 50 hours.

Air Wick Colour Change Candle

I’ve been waiting ages to use my Air Wick Colour Change Candle because it smells so Christmassy!  It’s been sitting in my cupboard but I made myself wait until after my birthday (that was on Tuesday) before I opened it.

We lit the candle last night and I really really love it!  It smells amazing – mulled wine and cinnamon apple – and it’s so pretty with the colour change.  When it’s not lit the wax is just white and it comes in a plain frosted glass holder so will fit in with any colour your room is decorated.

You can buy the candle in most supermarkets and it’s currently on offer at ASDA for just £3.  I might just go and buy another one…….

Yankee Candles

Yankee Candles are some of my favourite scented candles.  I’ve got two new summery scents which are perfect on days like this when it’s tipping down with rain even though it’s the middle of August!  ‘Beach Walk’ is a lovely pale blue colour and it smells really fresh and outdoorsy.  ‘Sun & Sand’ captures the smell of a beach really well and there is even a hint of sun cream!

This set actually came with a ‘Seaside Shade’ which I’m not really very keen on!

QVC have lots of different sets of candles you can choose from; different scents, different sizes, different shades (some without shades)…  I’ve already got my eye on some of the Christmas range!

Beer Bottle Candles

The St Eval Candle Company has loads of lovely candles.  I love the beer bottle candles which smell of lemon and thyme.  There are a few different designs to choose from……

I think everyone would love these candles so they might even make a good Father’s Day present.
