The Three Chimneys

During our recent trip to Skye, we decided to splash out on an extravagant meal at The Three Chimneys. The restaurant boasts a Michelin star and has held 3 AA rosettes for the past 16 years. The food is sourced locally from the nearby land, lochs and sea and the restaurant is famed for its seafood. Needless to say, I had been looking forward to our visit for quite some time!

After a scenic drive through a drizzly evening from the main town of Portree, we arrived at the cosy cottage-like Three Chimneys. The restaurant is smart inside but still manages to be comfortable and welcoming and the staff are all so friendly. I even felt relaxed enough to take a few discreet photos of our meal!

Although there was a tasting menu, it was very seafood heavy so we opted for the à la carte menu due to some of our party (myself included) not being the biggest seafood fans. My favourite thing about going to fancy restaurants are the little extras you get – the amuse bouches and the wee tastes! The Three Chimneys certainly provides plenty of surprises in between courses! All of the dishes brought to our table looked stunning and tasted delicious. The meat was full of flavour, the seafood was as fresh as could be and the desserts at the end were perfectly balanced. I can’t recommend The Three Chimneys enough – a visit to Skye wouldn’t be complete without trying out the restaurant. I know that Skye is tricky to get to from most of the UK but I can promise you that it is well worth the drive, both for the first class food and spectacular scenery!
